MARKET PRICE
ANALYSIS

The average hourly electricity price (EUR/MWh) follows a recognizable daily pattern — lowest at night and during midday hours, bottoming out between 11:00 and 15:00, then climbing sharply from 16:00 as evening sets in and the business day draws to a close, peaking between 19:00 and 21:00. Yet electricity prices are anything but stable. They can swing dramatically from one hour to the next, shaped by shifting weather conditions, industrial demand surges, grid congestion, and broader market forces. On any given day, the spread between the cheapest and most expensive hour can exceed €120/MWh — meaning a factory drawing the same load at 13:00 versus 20:00 is effectively paying a completely different electricity bill. Multiply that across hundreds of operating hours and the difference is not marginal — it is structural.

Electricity prices are anything but stable — they can swing dramatically from one hour to the next, influenced by weather, industrial demand, grid congestion, and even geopolitical events. Yet beneath this apparent chaos lies a remarkably consistent daily rhythm. The shape in Fig. 1 is consistent enough to plan around, yet the volatility is real enough to demand a smarter response than simply hoping to buy low and sell high. This daily electricity price cycle represents a measurable, repeatable arbitrage opportunity. A correctly sized PV (Photovoltaic) and BESS (Battery energy storage system) captures solar energy at its cheapest — or free — and deploys it precisely when the grid is most expensive, turning your factory’s energy consumption into a measurable competitive advantage. But capturing that opportunity consistently requires more than hardware. It requires intelligence.

This is precisely where data stops being passive and starts earning its keep. Identifying when peaks and troughs occur, how reliably they repeat, and how much they vary day to day and season to season — that is the foundation of any intelligent energy strategy. In the sections that follow, we walk through the data analysis behind these patterns, quantify the real arbitrage window available to your facility, and show how an Energy Management System (EMS) acts on that intelligence automatically — shifting loads, dispatching stored energy, and optimizing every kilowatt-hour in real time. The pattern is the promise. The data is the proof. The EMS is what captures it.

LOAD PROFILE & PV/BESS IMPACT C-P ANALYSIS

We create customized C-P (C, meaning – consumed energy from the facility or plant and P, meaning – produced energy from the PV & BESS) analysis for each of our client’s specific needs. The following analysis illustrates the energy profile (load consumption) of the facility under three scenarios: baseline consumption from the grid only, consumption with PV generation added, and the optimized scenario combining PV with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) managed by Solar Front’s proprietary EMS – Energy Flow.

Based on the data presented in the graphs, the integration of a PV system alone allows the plant to consume a significant portion of its energy from its own generation, in this case, reducing grid consumption to 64% of total demand. This represents a meaningful shift toward energy self-sufficiency, lowering both operational costs and exposure to grid price volatility.

When a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is added alongside the PV, grid consumption is further reduced by an additional 5%. While this incremental improvement may appear modest at first glance, its true value becomes evident when the BESS charge and discharge cycles are intelligently managed through Solar Front’s Energy Management System – Energy Flow. It implements a practical way to store and use energy by strategically charging the battery during periods of low electricity prices and discharging during peak-tariff hours, the EMS unlocks substantial financial benefits for the client — benefits that go well beyond what the raw percentage reduction alone suggests. Given the price fluctuations discussed earlier, this dynamic optimization translates directly into significant and ongoing cost savings, making the combined PV + BESS solution a highly compelling investment.

When paired with a correctly sized PV and BESS system, industrial facilities can significantly reduce operating costs and generate new revenue streams.

Why this matters for your facility:

  • Electricity prices fluctuate every single day, not occasionally.
  • The spread between low and high prices is large enough to justify investment.
  • PV and BESS systems allow you to capture free or cheap solar energy and use it when the grid is most expensive.
  • This transforms energy consumption from a fixed cost into a strategic financial advantage.

ENERGY FLOW
SOLAR FRONT‘s proprietary EMS

Our PV and BESS energy management system (EMS) is built to capture the spread of electricity prices. It is engineered to store solar energy when it is cheap, and deploy it when it is expensive. The result: lower operating costs, a new revenue stream, and an investment that pays for itself. And the numbers back it up — clients who have achieved fully optimized dispatch cycles report measurable gains from day one. What makes this possible is Solar Front’s proprietary arbitrage control of the BESS — an intelligent EMS that autonomously decides when to store and when to discharge, maximizing revenue at every price swing.

No one else does this. We do.

Modern energy systems operate within a dynamic environment where production, consumption, weather conditions, and market pricing continuously shape one another. An effective EMS must interpret these four domains as a single, interconnected flow – balancing generation with demand, anticipating meteorological variability, and responding intelligently to real ‑ time economic signals. SolarFront’s EMS – Energy Flow makes it possible by turning this complexity into a strategic advantage, delivering a level of stability, efficiency, and value.т.

SolarFront’s Energy Management System (Energy Flow) delivers a unified, real‑time view of every critical parameter in a modern PV‑powered facility-production, consumption, storage, weather conditions, and operational performance. By consolidating these data streams into a single, intuitive interface, the EMS enables precise control, rapid decision‑making, and transparent oversight of the entire energy ecosystem. This platform is engineered not just to monitor energy flow, but to elevate it – transforming complex system behavior into reliable, optimized, and economically intelligent operation.

Building on this foundation, SolarFront’s PV monitoring environment offers a clear and structured overview of system performance across all inverters and grid interactions. Detailed metrics such as active and reactive power, inverter efficiency, daily yield, and accumulated energy are presented with clarity, enabling operators to assess system health at a glance and intervene with confidence.

Real data from an existing project,
designed and implemented by Solar Front

According to real-data for the period of time November 2025 – March 2026 the PV generated energy is 29.64 %. BESS charge/discharge for the same period of time is 0.96 %. If this energy is deployed during peak-price hours, it delivers measurable financial returns even within the most challenging solar conditions of the year. This period of the year is historically characterized with the lowest solar irradiance. As a result, the figures presented represent a conservative baseline. For the remaining months (April through October), significantly higher output is expected, driven by increased irradiance levels, longer daylight hours, and improved panel efficiency under optimal operating temperatures.

The annual yield forecast is therefore projected to exceed the winter-period averages substantially. Even at this early stage, the data already points toward results well above our initial projections, and therefore a much higher return on investment is expected throughout the year.

This figure illustrates the expected return on investment (ROI) across three system configurations:

  • PV only,
  • PV combined with battery storage (BESS),
  • PV + BESS enhanced with Solar Front’s Smart EMS – Energy Flow

By comparing initial capital expenditure with the projected net profit over a 10 year period, the chart demonstrates how each incremental layer of technology increases long term financial performance. The results clearly show that while investment rises modestly from one configuration to the next, the corresponding gain in profitability is substantially higher, positioning the Smart EMS setup as the most economically advantageous option over the full operational horizon.

Why Our EMS Is Unique

  • Fully autonomous decision‑making – no manual scheduling required
  • Built specifically for PV + BESS integration
  • Continuously optimized using real‑time market data
  • Customizable to each plant’s operational profile
  • Proven ability to capture daily price spreads

CONCLUSION
Why Investing in PV & BESS Is a Strategic Advantage

Electricity prices follow a rhythm, not a mystery. Across 2025, the market bottomed out near €55.45/MWh at midday and peaked above €181.92/MWh by evening — a spread of more than €120/MWh, repeated day after day. Most facilities pay into that spread. A correctly designed PV + BESS system captures it.

The C-P analysis in this study makes the mechanics concrete. PV alone cuts grid consumption to roughly 64% of total demand. Adding a BESS reduces it by another 5% — a modest figure on paper, until the battery is managed intelligently. That is where Solar Front’s Energy Flow EMS changes the economics. Through arbitrage control of the BESS, Energy Flow charges during low-price hours, discharges during peak-tariff windows, maximizes PV self-consumption, and continuously adapts to each plant’s load profile — autonomously, with no manual scheduling. The 10-year ROI comparison across PV-only, PV + BESS, and PV + BESS + Energy Flow configurations shows the pattern clearly: each layer of technology adds modest capital, but Energy Flow delivers a disproportionate lift in long-term profitability.

Real-project data already supports the projection. Between November 2025 and March 2026 — the lowest-irradiance months of the year — PV generation reached 29.64% of total consumption and BESS cycling contributed another 0.96%, both expected to climb substantially as irradiance improves from April onward. Early returns are already tracking above initial forecasts.

Beyond the numbers, the strategic case is straightforward. Energy prices will keep swinging. Regulatory pressure on decarbonization will keep rising. PV and BESS are no longer optional upgrades — they are strategic assets. Combined with Energy Flow, they form a complete energy solution: lower operating costs, a new revenue stream, protection against market volatility, higher asset value, and stronger sustainability credentials. It is the rare investment that pays for itself — and then keeps paying, every single day.
